BSA National Jamboree 2010

Rockers and Rollin’

Posted by TroopWebmaster On August - 1 - 2010

Dear Parents and Family,

We have all been working hard on our rockers.  Most of us have already completed all of them, while others are just finishing.  With rockers being done most of us are now simply focusing on our favorite activity from now on.

Some of us are meeting some friends from long ago or simply meeting up with friends that we know from home. A Estes and W Estes met up with friends from Michigan met while doing their pre-jamboree shakedown.  Mr Johnson even spent a morning with his first scoutmaster doing the conservation trail together.   Its all been really cool not to mention a blast of fun.

Yet just like anything else in this world our Jamboree is coming to an end.  With the Closing Jamboree Show last night. We are all straining to squeeze every last drop of fun out of this organized chaos.   Though the arena show was just last night, and we don’t end till Tuesday we are still starting to feel the stress of the end. Today was a big day for all of us.  About 20 of us completed our 6 rockers and the rest of us have only 1 or 2 stamps to collect and we are free to patch trade or do anything we want!

The Arena Show on the other hand was amazing.  It was loaded with famous singers, guest celebrities, and not to mention the fact that there was the biggest fireworks display ever held ona a miltary base.  It was a spectacular show!  We had two famous bands play for us.  Both of which were either involved in scouting or were all scouts at one point. The bands were Honor Society a new band to the music scene, and the band Switchfoot which have been around for a long time.  Guest stars like the host of “Dirty Jobs” Mike Rowe came and shared a story of his first days of scouting.  Then we were shown an amazing video of the new National Jamboree site in West Virginia.  The site was beautiful and now we all want to go!

How do you put the rockers around the jamboree emblem? They arent big enough to fully encircle it and look nothing like the one in the booklet. Can anyone help?

  2. admin says:

The six rockers are meant to go around the bottom half of the jamboree emblem in a semi-circle. Three blue ones to the one side and the red bordered rockers to the other.

    Hope that helps!

Quick Question. If the scout completes the 6 rockers does he get the 100% participation award or are these for the adult leaders only who’s whole troop complete all six rockers????

    Thanks

For some reason, National decided that they wouldn’t make a 100% participation award for the kids leaving a gap in the rockers. If you have all 6 rockers, you can put them in a semi circle around the bottom and that’s pretty much it. Hope that answers your question!

Can’t beleive they wouldn’t make one for youth. I completed all 6 activities (i’m youth) and it kind of look half completed, like theres something missing =3. Are youth allowed to wear the 100% participation if they somehow got one?
