Scoutmaster – John Cass
John Cass is an avid scouter having completed numerous positions from Den Leader and up in over five councils, including one Direct Service Council unit. After a brief stint as Bear Cub he took a break from scouting until he was 10 when after a stern warning from his mother, “…if you quite this it will be the last thing you join,” he joined the Boy Scouts of America Troop 200 Toledo, Ohio Toledo Area Council – where he stayed until he was 18 and joined the Army…the warning stuck! A mere 24 years, 38 countries, 6 deployments, 67 airborne jumps, and 17 moves later he retired from the army and is now serving as a Department of Defense Civilian in Stuttgart, Germany where he resides with his wife and three of his four sons, all of whom are actively involved in Scouting. His eldest son Andrew is an Eagle Scout class of 2006 and serves the United States Air Force.
| With nearly 10 years of experience as a Scoutmaster John is a firm believer in the boy led troop and emphasis on a quality troop program. During the 75th Anniversary National Jamboree in 1985 John made a pledge to himself to return as a Scoutmaster for the 100th Anniversary Jamboree. Serving as chief of the council fire for this event is a privilege, honor and fulfillment of a lifelong dream – it will be the best, most fun-filled jamboree ever! | ![]() |
