The Jamboree Shoulder Patches (JSP’s)
The Jamboree Contingent created four JSPs that draw their inspiration from the landmarks spanning Europe and the ideals we wish to remember as we enter a new century of Boy Scouts of America.
We want to say thank you to the volunteers attending the National Jamboree 2010 as staffers. Whether you are instructing at meritbadge midway, running an action center or manning a concession stand, what you will do makes the Jamboree happen. That is why we also offered a special silver mylar bordered version of the National Jamboree Contingent patch just to TAC Staffers.
Origins -
This patch showcases the famous “unknown scout” as he directs William C Boyce through London. Also shown on the patch is Big Ben, the commemorative stone from Brownsea Island (site of the first Scout Camp), the white house of Gilwell Park (Lord Baden Powell’s home gifted to the Scout Association) and a portrait of Lord Baden Powell.
The Origins JSP is the JSP of the contingent. We will wear a variant of this CSP at the National Jamboree. Transatlantic Council scouts and scouters attending as staff for the 2010 National Jamboree will wear a silver bordered version.

Courage -
Transatlantic Council was founded as a service by the Boy Scouts of America to the families of American Military personnel stationed in Europe after World War II. We therefore recall the courage of our military with a scout reverently standing before the Omaha Beach American cemetery memorial to the missing servicemen. The patch also shows the crest of Transatlantic Council and images from the Normandy landings. The Normandy landings are remembered every three years by Transatlantic Council by a council-wide camporee on the beaches.

Faith -
We remember that a Scout is reverent with the image of a scout kneeling in prayer. In front of him are the Parthenon in Athens, St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, all cities with Transatlantic Council scout groups.

History -
Boy Scouts of America celebrates 100 years as a positive influence in the world. The history we remember stretches further back than that as a Scout hikes in front of the Colosseum of Rome, the fall of the Berlin Wall and Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria.
