    Parents and Scouters,

Just a few quick notes for the Jamboree.

    1) Physicals – If you have not received an electronic copy of your physical, or are having other problems with them please contact Angela Watson.  b_awatson@yahoo.com

    2) Payments – Please be reminded your payments are due, if you have not already done so please communicate with Karen Meier kmeier@bsamail.org

    3) Patches, Patches and more Patches – Yes the CSPs are in,  we have a few options and will discuss at the upcoming committee meeting on 24 October.  Also,  for participant CSPs and patches, we plan to hand these our at the January meeting to those who have paid IAW timeline.  Please keep in mind scouts will only get two participant patches, so if you drop or change council you are expected to replace the patches to whomever takes your spot.

    4) Youth Leadership – 24 Oct we will have a huddle with all ASMs and decide youth leadership positions, please be patient

    5) 3rd Assistant Scoutmaster - We have had three applicants, all worthy young men.  We will attempt to hold a teleconference on the 24th to conduct interviews with those candidates and make the final selection.

    6) Committee Meeting – If you haven’t guessed by now we will have a committee meeting on the 24th of October from 4-6 p.m.  We do not expect you to drive from any great distances, but if you are available and in the Stuttgart Area or willing to attend we hope to see you there.  This is not just for committee members, but any parent willing to help.  A special thanks to Peter Grunau who volunteered to serve as our chairman for the TAC contingent.

The Committee is as Follows (If there is a blank position, don’t hesitate to volunteer!, keep in mind many can be done from anywhere via email)

    Committee Chair – Peter Grunau

    Secretary (Public Affairs) -

Treasurer – Leigh Beth Munter and Janet Derner

Medical/Health and Safety – Angela Watson

    Fundraiser – Duke Whitten

    CSP Sales Coordinator -

    Events Coordinator – Flint Stocker

    Special Equipment – Ted Munter

Equipment Coordinator – DC – Mark Funk

    Webmaster -

Team TAC Forward –  Jud Estes, Michael Ditmer Carol O’Grady, Mark Funk, Mike Nostrand

If I have left anyone off, I apologize, the Gremlins seem to have eaten the sign-up roster for the time being.

    7) Timeline – I’ve received a few pieces of information.  First, there will be no early entery into the Jamboree, Therefore, our timeline is shaping up along the following.

20-21 July – TAC Forward and ASM/SM arrive, assemble gear, prepare for troop arrival.
22 July – Scouts arrive at DULLES AIRPORT, we will bus them to the pre-Jamboree Campout

    Scouts and Parents,

I just wanted to provide you some information on the Jamboree, we keep moving forward to this great event in 2010.  There are lot’s of moving pieces, but this will be the first of the monthly updates we discussed in our meetings last Spring.

    1) Medical Forms – The Jamboree Staff will be emailing/mailing medical forms to each individual participant.  Please follow the directions when you receive the medical form, we hope to consolidate these forms for review by December 2009.  One copy of the the forms are due to our POC Angela Watson b_awatson@yahoo.com.  Please contact her with questions.

    2) Payments – Payments are due to the contingent, soonest.  Please see the schedule below.  If you are not on schedule please communicate with myself, Karen Meier or Vince Cozzone.  It is imperative you pay and confirm your participation no later than 1 October 2009.  If you do not communicate with the contingent leadership, failure to pay could result in removal from the contingent. Payment timeline Jan 15 $100 (Paid);  15 Jul $400 (some late); 15 Sep $295 (due); and 15 Jan 2010 $305.

    3) Contingent Shoulder Patches – The sales are ongoing, please spread the word.  We are looking for a mainland Europe volunteer to take care of on-line sales and orders.  Please contact myself and Luke Johnson if you are interested in helping and we can provide further details.

    4) Contingent Committee – Congratulations!  If you signed up for a committee position you have it!  I will be forwarding out a breakout in the next week or so.  We are still looking for a Contingent Chairperson, our selectee moved back to the states on short notice.  Please do some soul searching if you are willing to take on this role.  We are looking at scheduling a committee meeting in late October, virtual for those in England or outer regions.  More to follow.

    5) VI/TAC Contingent – I’ve had a few parents ask if they could bump-up or shift between the two contingents.  We do not currently allow for this as it may be perceived as unfair, no matter how good the reason.

    6) Troop Website - I am perhaps the most excited about this announcement.  One of our scouts and Troop Webmaster, Charlie Matthews, designed our troop website.  It is a great job from Charlie and as we get it off the ground it will become our source of information for the troop. http://www.tacjamboree.vividperfection.com/

    7) Stand-by Slots –  Please encourage your scouting friends to enroll for the Jamboree.  We are “full” but history has shown about a 10% change-over in dropped slots.  There is still a chance to go, but you have to be registered.

On behalf of the Scoutmaster Team I would like to thank everyone for their support and positive energy which is keeping this contingent on track.

    YIS,

    John Cass
