Transatlantic Council Troop Jamboree 2010

BSA National Jamboree 2010

Personal Equipment

Posted by TroopWebmaster On March - 11 - 2010

Most of you recieved your duffel bags at meeting 2A or by “Special ASM2 Delivery”. For the rest of you, the bags are coming. A BIG thank you to Mr Ted Munter who sourced the bags and arranged for a donation from Stuttgart Special Operations Association to pay for them. Due to Ted’s fierce dedication on duffels, he managed to get the duffels at no cost to the troop, saving money for other, more fun, items.

TAC Scout Shop Discount

TAC Scout Shop is offering a discount of 20% to scouts attending the National Scout Jamboree 2010 with the Transatlantic Council. This discount is only for the Scout and is not for parents, siblings or a whole troop to outfit themselves. If it is abused, it can be revoked (and maybe even for all of us). That said, I know none of you will abuse it, but I need to put out the disclaimer.

Mr Cass sent the order form for use with this discount out by email to all troop members on 12 March 2010. If you have lost your email, or need the form, contact Luke Johnson for a replacement.

As you order from TAC, you should bear in mind, you do NOT need to purchase the following as the troop will issue these:

  • Troop numerals
  • Leadership Position patches
  • Patrol patches
  • a troop hat
  • a troop neckerchief
  • a troop slide
  • a name tag

and lots more goodies. If you are uncertain, ask.

Packing List

The packing list for each scout can be found HERE. You need all the equipment for Meeting 3 on 11-13 June in Stuttgart. You should pack as if you are going to the Jamboree (including fitting everything in your red duffel and a day pack) so the Scoutmaster team can check your equipment and make any adjustments BEFORE we head out to Washington DC. Ensure that EVERYTHING is marked with your name and “T138″.  And just so no one has any illusions, yes it does ALL fit.

If you have any questions on the gear, let us know.

Troop Issued Gear

What we will issue is dependant in part on the fundraising efforts of the Troop.  At the present time, the following gear has been/will be issued by the Troop for each scout:

  • 1 red 100L duffel (which between this and your day pack, you need to fit EVERYTHING in)
  • 2 Troop T-shirts
  • 1 Hat
  • 1 Neckerchief
  • 1 Neckerchief slide
  • 1 Water Bottle
  • 1 Goodie Bag of assorted patches
  • 2 Troop Numerals
  • 2 Leadership Position Patches (if applicable to the Scout)
  • 2 Patrol Patches
  • 1 Name Tag
  • 2 Contingent JSP
  • 2 National Jamboree Participant Patches (most of you already have one of these)
  • 2 Origins JSP
  • 2 Courage JSP
  • 2 History JSP
  • 2 Faith JSP

You WILL need to get a good quality day pack.  I recommend 30L to 40L with padded straps, waist belt etc.  A couple of places for good size water bottles and easy access to essentials.  This is the bag each Scout will take with him EVERY DAY when he leaves camp at 08:30 and will need to carry everything for the day until he returns at 17:30.  Scouts should practice taking 10 mile hikes with it and if the pack isn’t comfortable on those hikes, get a different pack.  It is not worth the discomfort for 2 weeks.

For certain items, such as Troop t-shirts, it may be possible to order additional t-shirts as part of the Troop’s order.  An email will be circulated prior to the order being placed, so please respond when you see it if you are interested.
