Jamboree Update #4

Posted by admin On November - 29 - 2009

Scouts and Parents,

I just wanted to take a few moments and give you an update on what is going regarding the Jamboree Contingent.
1) TAC/VI Contingent – As you may have heard the Council decided to send an additional half a troop with the Virgin Islands.  We are pleased to announce they will be joining us during our pre-Jamboree tour of Washington, D.C.   Which Should be a great event and allow the maximum amount of interaction between TAC and VI troops possible.
2) Payments –  $100 due 15 Jan 2009 – PAID; $400 due 15 Jul 2009 – PAID; $295 due 15 Sep 2009; $305 due 15 Jan 2010 please contact Karen Meier if you have any questions regarding your current payment status.

5) CSP Sales/Contingent Patches – If you ordered CSPs and paid for them, we will be handing them out at the next contingent meetings.  We will also hand out your first of two Jamboree Patches and potentially the contingent strips, as well.

6) Youth Leadership - Following the first committee meeting in October, the Scoutmaster team huddled and selected the youth leadership for the contingent.  Congratulations to the scouts below for their volunteering to serve their fellow scouts – your dedication and commitment is appreciated.  If your son was not selected do not be alarmed – there were actually too many qualified youth, probably the toughest decisions we had to make were who would serve and who wouldn’t.  A great place to be as a Scoutmaster, choosing from a group of such talented scouts.  Patrol assignments will be made before the second meeting.

7)  Contingent Planning – Following the October Committee meeting the final big rocks for the contingent fell into place.  We have buses for DC, a place to stay (Prince William Forest Park), a good handle on equipment, and a great committee.  Therefore, as the Scoutmaster team we will begin to focus our attention inward towards the preparation of the scouts for the adventure of the Jamboree.  T-shirt contests, Patrol Flags, Gateway competitions/designs, pre-Jamboree training and building patrol spirit will be our focus.  While the committee works with us to provide the details of the overall plan we have developed.  This is going to be a great event and I look forward to working with each of you along the trail to the 100th Anniversary National Jamboree.

YIS,

John Cass
